Pray… yes but don’t just wring your hands in despair about needy people in your community. Do something practical about it!! That is the rallying call of members and volunteers at Tirzah Baptist Church, Cwm, Ebbw Vale who are really following in the footsteps of the Lord by helping to feed the hungry and clothe those living on the bread line.
Tirzah, supported by Greggs and Tesco, collect and distribute end- of – day food from the church premises and, according to church secretary Jill Davies, the demand is growing continually. Food from Greggs is distributed on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings while the Tesco food is shared out late on Sunday afternoons. Tirzah also run a Clothes Bank and a “Call in Breakfast” on Tuesday mornings.
“Our people work very hard but it is worth every minute. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community and this is a great way to do it”, Jill said.
